Low energy roasting
100% of our beans are roasted using hot air instead of old-fashioned steel drums. Although the equipment costs a lot more, it’s an investment we know is worth it.
Not only does this mean the beans never scorch or burn from contact with the hot surfaces of a drum, but we are also able to rotate and reuse the air several times before dispensing it. This means our total energy used is significantly less than the old ways of roasting.
Carbon neutral roasting
To achieve our goal of being 100% net zero and carbon neutral in our roasting, we pass the emissions from our roasting through a highly efficient catalytic converter. This process is like car exhaust systems but much larger and much more efficient.
We're able to capture a minimum of 94.1% of the carbon produced. We then offset the rest in partnership with Carbon Footprint’s projects that protect indigenous rainforests from deforestation in the Amazon.
This ensures we balance our emissions that impact the environment.
Recyclable packaging
For decades, the coffee industry has particularly struggled in knowing what to do with empty coffee bags. Now we have it cracked!
All of our coffees, teas and hot chocolates are packed in easily recyclable materials.
Our packets are made of Low-Density Polyethylene Film (LDPF) which are totally air-tight for maximum freshness and fully recyclable – even the valve! LDPF is able to be mechanically reformed into pellets to be used again and again.
Our aluminium coffee capsules which are 100% recyclable too. Compost the contents after use and pop the empty pods in your household recycling.
Award-winning taste
Our emphasis isn’t just on saving energy, capturing carbon and taking care of our planet. The key question ultimately is: What does it taste like?
As a Great Taste Producer with 13 Great Taste Awards to our name, we can be confident that industry insiders, chefs and professional critics know our coffee, teas and hot chocolates taste simply delicious.
