The Asoiasi Kopi Gayo Organic Cooperative was founded in 2008 and began to export Fairtrade organic coffee in 2010. The cooperative is currently made up of around 800 members from the surrounding villages, of Aceh Tengah and Bener Meriah. The villages are situated between 1,300 and 1,600 meters above sea level. All the villages have delegate representatives who sit on the cooperatives board.
These beans are specifically sourced from family-owned farms located in the Takengon highlands of the Aceh province, this region of Indonesia is also referred to as the “Gayo Land” because the coffee farmers are from the Gayonese ethnic group whose villages who inhabit the area.
Full-bodied with a velvety texture and persistent finish. Excellent as espresso with a lovely balsamic, sweet/acid note at the end.
